We generally use steel materials such as S55C when we make molds.
However, if the production volume is small, or depending on the shape of the product, we can propose the use of aluminum molds for production.
However, if the production volume is small, or depending on the shape of the product, it may be possible to use aluminum molds for production.
Advantages of aluminum molds include
(1) Shorter delivery time (cutting, polishing, and electrical discharge machining time can be reduced)
(2) Lower cost of molds than general steel materials due to the above
(3) Lighter weight enables reduction of factory equipment.
(4) Excellent heat conduction and efficient cooling time → Shortening of molding cycle is possible.
(5) Good flowability of resin and easy to suppress sink marks.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages
▲ Inferior durability (30,000 shots of mass production can be guaranteed if molding rules are followed)
Difficult to modify molds (e.g., graining, weld overlay processing, etc.)
