SANKO GOSEI

The 12th Plastics Japan (High Performance Plastics Expo) was held at Makuhari Messe (Chiba, Japan) on October 4-6, 2012.

(High Performance Plastics Expo) held at Makuhari Messe (Chiba) from October 4 to 6.

The booths were as crowded as in front of Corona. We picked up some interesting exhibits from the booths and would like to introduce them here.

Mirai Kasei Co.

They exhibited resin pellets blended with thermoplastic resin and virgin carbon fiber, as well as samples of prototypes using the pellets.

There were samples of products that we are all familiar with, such as bottle openers, shoehorns, L-shaped angles, pipes, and industrial drones. These were molded by injection molding or extrusion molding.

Other exhibits included prototypes made of non-woven fabrics blended with recycled carbon fiber and thermoplastic fiber.

Carbon fiber has very high tensile strength and can be used as a lightweight composite material with resin.

However, it is very expensive compared to metal.

On the other hand, it is very expensive compared to metal and has been used only for airplanes and some luxury cars because of its long molding cycle.
