Hot runner valve gates have a structure in which the runner part can be heated, so that resin can be injected directly into the product part of the mold in a molten state, and the hot runner has a structure in which a pin can be inserted into the gate part and the gate can be opened and closed individually by moving the pin. Since the resin inflow from each gate can be controlled individually, the degree of freedom in the molding process is higher than that of hot runner molds in the sense that the resin filling in the mold can be controlled. However, the high degree of freedom also means that the parameters of the control method during molding have increased, and the control related to the gate opening and closing of the valve gate system must be managed during molding.
From the analysis side, the timing of opening and closing of the valve gate is required in the calculation along with the determination of the gate position, making the combination of boundary conditions for analysis even more complicated.
Depending on the gate position and gate opening/closing timing, ideal filling may not be achieved. In such cases where filling is ideal, it is necessary to perform gas venting during mold design.
