An angle head is a type of accessory attached to a machine tool
It is a device that allows the rotation axis of a tool to be inclined. Normally, the tool's axis of rotation moves in a straight line, so it is used when cutting or drilling at a specific angle is required.
Angle heads are used on many different types of machine tools, but are especially common on machining centers such as milling machines and machining centers. On these machining machines, the tool usually moves either vertically or horizontally, but angle heads allow the tool to be oriented at any angle.
Angle heads are useful for drilling holes at an angle or cutting grooves at a specific angle on a particular side of a part. They are also used when machining parts with complex geometries and deep locations, contributing to improved machining accuracy and productivity. On the other hand, however, changing tool angles means complex setups and adjustments are required. Tool centering is especially important when changing tools or changing swivel angles.
Some angle heads have a fixed angle, while others have a flexible angle that can be adjusted from 0° to 90°. These are mainly used on machining centers.
