This is a continuation from the product design section.
Once the product shape has been determined, the mold design begins.
Selection of mold material
The first step is to select the mold material. Mold material selection criteria are determined by the type of molding material, presence or absence of filler material, shape of the molded product, required quality of the molded product, and total number of shots.
In addition, some materials may not be able to be processed by a processing machine, so it is necessary to consider the product shape and other factors.
In this case, we decided to use the hardened material from Table 1 below, because we also assumed the trial production of a material containing glass fibers, although it will not be used for mass production.
Selection of mold structure
In this case, since the product shape is simple and the gate can be a direct gate, we will proceed with the design with a 2-plate mold.
Nested structure
The nesting elements are interchangeable, and the product wall thickness can be changed by changing the wall thickness. Since the change is made on the core side, the protrusion setting of the protrusion pin should also be changed together.
Once the nesting device is inserted and formed, it is almost impossible to remove it by hand.
Therefore, the nesting elements are always tapped at the four corners for protrusion.
This way, the nesting can be removed simply by screwing in the bolts.
