Replacement of injection molds

The injection molds we handle are replaced according to the following replacement procedure

1. lifting the mold

 (1) Check the center of gravity of the mold.

②Check the threaded surface of the eyebolts in relation to the fixing method and the direction of the cooling water hose nipple.

 (3) Check if the eyebolts are not loose. If the threaded part of the eyebolt cannot be screwed in for the full pitch, insert washers or other means to prevent the eyebolt from loosening.

 (4) Prepare a wire rope of appropriate length considering the crane's lifting capacity.

 (5) Thread the wire rope through the eyebolt rings and hook the crane's hook onto the wire rope. If the wire rope cannot be passed through the eyebolt ring, use a method that conforms to the slinging standards.

Precautions

Never hook the hook directly onto the eyebolt ring. If the crane is subjected to an abnormal load, the threaded part of the eyebolt will break without warning. If a wire rope is used, the rope will stretch (the wire will unravel) and the danger can be detected in advance. Eye bolts, shackles, wires, and other lashing devices should not be used if they are more damaged than specified.

Be especially careful at the moment of lifting, moving, and stopping because of the load and the danger of falling.

Insertion into machine and fixing method

 (1) Suspend the machine directly above the machine plates, and gradually insert the mold by sliding it along the edge of the moving plate. Be careful not to damage the tie bar or plates with the main body or hose nipple.

(Fig. 1①)

 (2) Align the locating ring of the mold with the locating ring hole of the machine. (Fig. 1 ②)

If there is no locating ring, as a special operation, the nozzle should be 5 mm out from the surface of the fixed plate, and the sprue bushing of the die should be aligned with it. However, after adjusting the zero point (only for the toggle type, but for the direct pressure type, after the mold is adhered to the nozzle), the nozzle should be retracted. In this case, the nozzle touch adjustment must still be performed.

 (3) Reduce the mold thickness by using the mold thickness adjustment method at low pressure and low speed (toggle type) to narrow the gap between the plates.

At this time, parallel and vertical adjustment of the mold and plates is also performed. After matching the locating ring, it is safe to lower the crane slightly and loosen the tension of the rope. (Figure 2)

(4) At this point, the zero point of the mold clamping force setting is adjusted. (Toggle type) After mold adhesion, the reference point for adjusting the amount of clamping force is determined. This is called the zero point adjustment.

 (5) If the mounting plate has a hole for fastening the mold, directly tighten the mold using a flat washer and spring washer. In other cases (pine needle shaped parts used to fix the mold), the screw depth of the bolt should be at least 1.5 times the bolt diameter (1.3 times for steel plates) for cast plates. Normally, 1.7 times (1.5 times for steel plates) is sufficient. Always retighten at the end. (Figure 2)

Other precautions

 (1) After production is finished, molds should be stored in the mold storage area after rust-proofing and draining the cooling holes.

 (2) Ejector rods should be replaced considering the ejector stroke.

 (3) Molds with hydraulic or air cores should be opened after setting the core operation circuit.

 (4) For molds with slide cores, set the core actuation circuit in consideration of the actuation timing before opening and closing the mold.

 (5) The low-speed switching position for mold opening and closing should be set in consideration of the mold structure.
