CAE does not use the 3D data itself for calculations, but replaces it with elements called meshes to calculate deformations and stresses.
It is said that the finer the mesh, the more accurate the calculation of deformations and stresses.
There are various types of meshes in terms of shape as well as size.
In 3D geometry, the two most common types of mesh are hexa-mesh and tetra-mesh.
Hexa meshes consist of hexahedra and are said to have high calculation accuracy.
Tetra mesh consists of tetrahedra and, although it is less computationally accurate, it reproduces the geometry better.
For this reason, the analysis settings are created with hexahedral mesh as far as possible, and if this is not possible, the work is switched to tetrahedral mesh.
